DESCRIPTION:Join us on December 9 for an International Mountain Day event: Women Move Mountains\nSAVE THE DATE! December 9th\, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm MT.\nCanadian Mountain Network and Mountain Sentinels are partnering to host “Women Move Mountains\,” a dialogue on this year’s International Mountain Day (IMD) theme. \nWomen play a key role in the stewardship\, conservation\, economic development and management of mountains including the keeping and sharing of traditional knowledge. IMD 2022 focuses on the need to empower farmers\, artisans\, entrepreneurs\, community leaders\, mothers\, and mountain women and girls\, so that they can more effectively participate in decision-making and resource management. \n  \nRegister Here!\n  \nSpeakers:\n\n\nAtaya Cesspooch (Northern Ute\, Assiniboine\, and Lakota)\, Doctoral Student\, Department of Environmental Science\, Policy\, & Management\, University of California\, Berkeley \n\n\nCoralee McGuire-Cyrette\, Executive Director\, Ontario Native Women’s Association \n\n\nKim McMullen\, Founder\, Girl in the Wild \n\n\nLouise Misztal\, Executive Director\, Sky Island Alliance \n\n\nSpiritual open by:\nAva Hamilton (Southern Arapahoe): she is a filmmaker\, author\, and public speaker\, and active in Rising Voices: Climate Resilience through Indigenous and Earth Sciences. \nOpening remarks:\n\n\nMonique Dubé\, Executive Director\, CMN \n\n\nJulia Klein\, Professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science & Sustainability and Research Scientist at the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory at Colorado State University \n\n\nThe United Nations General Assembly also declared the year 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development to increase awareness of the importance of sustainable mountain development and the conservation and sustainable use of mountain ecosystems. \nThis year for IMD\, Mountain Sentinels & CMN will be organizing online events and working with partners to share women’s stories about the mountains where they live\, work and care for the land and their families. \nIMD 2022 is an opportunity to raise awareness about the need to empower and uplift women so they can participate more effectively in decision-making processes and have more control over productive resources. SUMMARY:AGU Fall Meeting 2022
DESCRIPTION:AGU Fall Meeting is the most influential event in the world dedicated to the advancement of Earth and space sciences. Every year\, AGU Fall Meeting unites the Earth and space science community to share findings\, connect like-minded scientists from around the world\, and advance our profession and shared passion for the impact of science. \nAGU Fall Meeting 2022 will be held in Chicago and online everywhere 12 – 16 December 2022. More than 25\,000 attendees from more than 100 countries will convene to explore how Science Leads the Future. We will welcome a diverse community of scientists\, students\, journalists\, policymakers\, educators and organizations who are working toward a world where scientific discovery leads to scientific solutions\, and where our global collaborations and partnerships can carry us into a sustainable future. \n  \nIn the upcoming AGU Fall Meeting 2022 we are organizing a session devoted to mountainous critical zones (CZs). Our main goal of organizing this session is to bring together researchers and scientists with diverse backgrounds and experiences to advance the understanding of mountainous CZs through observations and numerical experiments.
