In this session, we invite speakers and participants whose work is addressing sustainability challenges in mountain social-ecological systems worldwide.  We invite researchers using a variety of tools and especially those using a combination of approaches (e.g. social-ecological systems modeling, empirical case studies, participatory approaches, remote sensing, local knowledge, citizen science, ecosystem service assessment, nature-based solutions) to address issues facing mountain environments and people, with impacts beyond the mountains themselves.   We seek to identify innovative partnerships, processes, and tools that can advance the research and practice for transforming towards sustainable mountain futures.  We hope to share studies, experiences and lessons from diverse mountain sites worldwide.
