Join us on December 9 for an International Mountain Day event: Women Move Mountains
SAVE THE DATE! December 9th, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm MT.
Canadian Mountain Network and Mountain Sentinels are partnering to host “Women Move Mountains,” a dialogue on this year’s International Mountain Day (IMD) theme.
Women play a key role in the stewardship, conservation, economic development and management of mountains including the keeping and sharing of traditional knowledge. IMD 2022 focuses on the need to empower farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, community leaders, mothers, and mountain women and girls, so that they can more effectively participate in decision-making and resource management.

The United Nations General Assembly also declared the year 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development to increase awareness of the importance of sustainable mountain development and the conservation and sustainable use of mountain ecosystems.
This year for IMD, Mountain Sentinels & CMN will be organizing online events and working with partners to share women’s stories about the mountains where they live, work and care for the land and their families.
IMD 2022 is an opportunity to raise awareness about the need to empower and uplift women so they can participate more effectively in decision-making processes and have more control over productive resources. By sharing excellence, opportunities and capacity development in mountains, IMD can promote gender equality and therefore contribute to improve social justice, livelihoods and resilience.
Women have unique gifts to be celebrated, and in this panel, we bring together a diverse group of women who are working towards Moving Mountains every day, making a better world for us all.
We hope you can join us for this dialogue on Friday, December 9 at 10:00 am Mountain Time / 11:00 am Central / 1:00 pm Atlantic (for approximately two hours).
