The Mountain Partnership — a United Nations voluntary alliance of partners dedicated to mountain peoples and environments globally — and co-hosts, the state of Colorado, the City of Aspen, the Aspen Institute and the Aspen International Mountain Foundation (AIMF), will host the Sixth Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership in Aspen, Colorado on September 26-29.
Every four years, the Mountain Partnership holds a major meeting of members from diverse mountainous countries. The upcoming Global Meeting will be the high point of the “International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development 2022,” recently announced by the UN General Assembly. The meeting will be held for the first time in North America.
The two-and-a-half-day Global Meeting, to be held at the Aspen Meadows Resort, will establish the Mountain Partnership agenda and high-level advocacy goals for the next four years. US policymakers and outdoor industry sponsors are invited to join the Mountain Partnership, participate in the meeting and develop action items in concert with key officials from North America and around the world.
The meeting will culminate with a forum hosted by the Aspen Institute, which will feature a public keynote address and panel discussions with key experts. The Aspen Institute is known for its groundbreaking programs, including the Aspen Ideas Festival, Aspen Security Forum, the Aspen Cyber Summit and the Global Inclusive Growth Summit among many others. The forum will be presented under the auspices of the Aspen Institute’s Hurst Lecture Series.
