Description:
OUR PURPOSE Connect mountain communities across regions, share community-led responses to climate and ecological injustice, and build practical international solidarity beyond COP31.
CENTRAL MESSAGE Mountain communities are not passive victims of climate change. They are knowledge holders, conservation leaders and partners in shaping just, resilient and non-extractive futures.
Here is some background on the People’s Climate Summit from their website: “Believing that the real solution lies with the people, the three major umbrella organizations of the ecological movement in Turkey – the Climate Justice Coalition, the Ecology Union, and the Turkish Environmental Platform – came together on December 16, 2025. We reached a consensus that an alternative summit, taking into account the needs of the people and climate justice, should be held in Antalya in November 2026, coinciding with COP31. To organize this summit with the broadest possible social base, we established a solidarity network comprised of various groups and individuals who have mobilized around climate justice during the COP31 process. While we cannot list them all here, this network includes NGOs, trade unions, grassroots movements, youth groups, and justice networks operating in the fields of environment and development.”
